SMHS junior runner Nick Nyman wins the GHSA state 5A cross-country championship race on November 3 in Carrollton, helping the boys team place second in the state. SMHS girls took third place at the state meet.


MISSION STATEMENT


The mission of the Starr’s Mill High School Cross Country and Track & Field program is to provide a positive student-centered environment in which student athletes will fully participate in and gain valuable life-long lessons. We emphasize a commitment to excellence in the classroom as well as on the athletic fields. Team members will gain life-long lessons in sportsmanship, teamwork, ethical behavior, perseverance, commitment, loyalty, self-discipline, accomplishment, cooperation, healthy living, responsibility, and leadership skills.


PHILOSOPHY


Our philosophy is to create a competitive and character driven program for Starr’s Mill High School Cross Country and Track &Field program.  We hope that each athlete will remember how their experience made them a champion both on and off the field. The greatest rewards that athletes will gain on the team will be the rewards that come from being a part of a team. We want each runner to see the improvement that comes from consistent hard work and to value the importance of a commitment. We also want each athlete to know that he/she has achieved because of continued effort and dedication. Participating on an athletic team should be a wonderful experience from which each athlete can always look back and remember the lessons learned, friendships gained and goals achieved.

* Get on the list. You will be able to update your contact information here to receive email information throughout the season.

* Attend the SMHS track & field informational meeting to speak with our coaches and Finish Line Booster Club officers. Meet us 6-6:40 pm in the Starr's Mill Media Center on Tuesday, November 28. Here is a presentation from that meeting.

* If you need a uniform, you will order it directly from Boathouse before the season begins. The store is now closed, but you can place your order from December 25 to January 15. Check the store at this link to make plans for future orders.

* Find registration documents here (coming soon) to complete and bring to registration in January. Registration meeting is set for 6 pm on Tuesday, January 9, in the Starr's Mill Cafeteria.

* Be sure your athlete's physical paperwork is up to date through the school's main office.
